T107 - Theatrical Dresser Trunk - SOLD 01/2023

Size: 40" wide, 26" tall, 23" deep.

A beautiful and scarce flat top theatrical dresser trunk of the early 1900's complete with two original wooden drawers, upper compartments, and a working brass lock. These trunks were designed and built to be used by traveling theatrical groups, musicians, Vaudeville acts, and others which were popular in the late 1890's to the 1920's. A very well built, heavy duty trunk which has lots of strong hardware, braces, and iron latches. There are large iron rollers on the bottom. The solid brass lock is marked "Star Lock Works, Phila. Pa." with the original barrel key. The thick leather handles are original style replacements. There is an old London hotel sticker on one side. The top section of the interior is fabric lined with a Victorian embossed chromolithograph. The upper lid compartment has three sections with a fabric covered hinged lid and a snap holder. The two divided drawers are all refinished wood with original steel pulls. The lower drawer is missing which makes it easier to use the roomy compartment area beneath the drawers which is also fabric lined (see detailed pictures). The trunk is in excellent restored condition and finished with satin tung oil varnish which is very durable and smooth. A fabulous and unique trunk, wonderful for storage and for use in the home in many ways. I've only had a few similar theatrical trunks in many years of trunk restoring.
