M106 - Victorian Cast Iron Trunk Catches - SOLD 08/2010

This is a pair of old unused Victorian trunk catches made of heavy cast metal, I believe cast iron. They have the original old worn black and tinned finish so will look great on an antique trunk. These are installed with trunk nails or rivets. They measure about 4 1/2 inches total top to bottom when closed. The width is 2 1/2 inches from hole centers. These have good strong steel springs. They are stamped Pat'd May 21, 1878. Used on many styles of trunks of the late 1870's to early 1900's. These look so much better on antique trunks than those new or reproduction catches.
