M115 - Trunk Tray Latch

$8.00

An antique trunk tray latch and holder. These were patented in 1877 by Charles Taylor of Chicago and used by many trunk makers. It's marked "Pat Oct 23, 77" for the 1877 patent These are nailed to the top inside lid of the trunk. When the tray is lifted from the front, a small metal piece on the side of the tray would be hooked on this piece in order to hold it up out of the way so you could get items out of the trunk without removing the tray. This piece was put on so that it could still move enough to swing back and forth. Used on many trunks from the late 1870's to early 1900's. An original antique piece in excellent condition.

Price: $8 includes postage in the U.S. only.
