M115 - Antique Iron Trunk Latches #2

A pair of rare antique trunk latches in the #2 size. These are marked with the 2 on the top (the size). Made of cast iron in a Victorian design from the 1880's. Measure 4 1/2" tall by 2 1/2" wide when latched together, measured to the edges. I've seen very few of this type in over 50 years of trunk restoration.

Many latches were made in sizes 1 through 5, with 1 being the smallest. They have the original old worn silver tinned finish and can easily be painted if desired. See pictures for details of the condition and design. They work and are complete, all in cast iron. They are designed to latch automatically and then you pull out on the bail piece to open them. Used on trunks from the 1880's to early 1900's. Install with trunk nails and/or rivets. Very hard to find in good complete condition.

Price: $58 per pair, INCLUDES postage in the United States. Email for shipping cost to other countries.

Note: you won't see many hardware items marked sold on this page because I quickly replaced them with more antique trunk hardware. Visit often for updates. Thanks for visiting This Old Trunk.
