M120 - Antique Star Trunk Lock Key - SOLD 02/2018

An antique Star Lock Works of Philadelphia trunk lock key. Star Lock made several types of trunk locks, but patented the style that uses this key in April 1877. These locks became very popular with trunk makers, who used them on many types of trunks into the early 1900's. There were two sizes of the keys and this is the larger size. The locks have a small round brass key escutcheon with a straight slot in it. This brass piece is often marked "Pat. Apr. '77". The larger style Star locks were typically used on medium to large size trunks, but even some small trunks use this size key. In my experience this Star key fits nearly all of the larger sized 1877 patented Star locks with a key slot that is 7/16" (just under 1/2"). The key is 3/8" high at the end. If you need the smaller size key, email Marvin@ThisOldTrunk.com and I will try to help you.
