M124 - Antique Trunk Hinges

A set of 2 antique trunk hinges marked "Patented April 10, 1866". Wow, that's really old Gertrude!! These genuine antique trunk hinges were generally used on smaller trunks and valises of the 1860's through the 1890's or later. I've seen these on most of the small trunks, often called Uniform or Military & Society Trunks, used by Knights Templar, Knights of Columbus, etc.. These small trunks were usually called a Valise back in the day, but now everyone wants to change the name and call them hand trunks or something else... oh well. They measure 2 1/2" by 2 1/2" on the large side and 2 1/2" by 1 1/2" on the other side. They are often called Stop Hinges because they open only 90 degrees and hold the lid open. Could be used on other types of small trunks or cases or even old doll trunks. Very strong and work well, with original old black paint. Great condition. Only one pair available.
