T121 - Brass 1877 Trunk Lock & Key - SOLD 01/2021

A beautiful antique solid brass trunk lock in excellent used condition! A very high-quality lock made by Star Lock Works of Philadelphia and marked with the maker and patent dates of 1869 and 1877. This company became Star Lock Works after the death of Conrad Liebrich in 1870. Made of heavy brass including the key escutcheon and hasp. One original star flat key which works well. A larger than average lock, the base measures 5 3/8" wide by 3 1/2" tall and the top latch is 3 5/8" tall by 3 1/2" wide at the top. This lock requires a shallow cutout in the trunk, about 2 1/4" high by 2" wide for the base piece. A great lock for many types of antique trunks of the 1870's through the early 1900's. Would also look wonderful on an antique style chest or other boxes needing a nice lock. Put on with brass trunk nails or rivets. Very hard to find especially with a key!
