T126 - Antique Trunk Lock & Key

An antique trunk lock with a working antique key. The lock plate has a raised key escutcheon and brass rivets. A style used by many American trunk makers. The lock is unmarked. The bottom lock plate measures just under 4" wide and 3" tall. The top latch piece is 3 1/4" high by 2 3/4" at the widest points (The nail holes are 2 1/8" apart on the top part). A style used on medium and large American trunks from the 1870's to the early 1900's. The lock works well with the unique barrel key. The lock has a nice aged look and can easily be painted if desired. Many of these locks were originally tinned and had a silver look when new. It has brass rivets and a round brass key escutcheon marked with the patent date. That look can be duplicated pretty well now with metallic silver paint. Very hard to find complete with a key. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 2" by 2 1/4" tall. Easily put on with trunk nails or rivets.

Note: You won't see many items marked "Sold" on my pages because I quickly replace them with more antique trunk hardware items. Check back often for updates.
