T130 - Vintage Shwayder Samsonite Suitcase

Size: 24" by 18" tall by 8" deep.

A vintage Shwayder Brothers Samsonite suitcase, Style 4135, made in Denver, CO. It has burgundy faux alligator pattern covering and sewn edge bindings. This is circa 1950's to early 1960's and the alligator covered cases are much harder to find than the smooth covered models. It is narrower at the top and tapers to an 8 inch wide base which has small metal feet. The fabric label is inside, shown in the pictures. The interior is in very nice condition and is all original with the buckled tie-down straps, compartment covers, folding clothes retainer bar, and brass catches and holder for clothes hangers. It has a brass lock but no key. The top handle and two latches are in very good working condition. The woven fabric lining is also in very nice condition with only very minor signs of use and faint spotting. This suitcase shows well, with minimal signs of use and age as would be expected. The suitcase is solid and strong and is a nice size for display or use and has a great vintage look!

The company started in 1910 in Denver as the Shwayder Trunk Manufacturing Company and later became Shwayder Bros. Inc. Samsonite luggage was introduced in 1941. In 1965 they changed the company name to Samsonite. Please email if you have any questions or would prefer to pick up this item.
