T100 - Embossed Barrel Top Trunk & Key! - SOLD 02/2019

Size: 30" wide, 24" tall, 18 1/2" front to back

A high-quality cross slat barrel top trunk from the 1890's in excellent restored condition with the complete interior! It's a smaller size that is very hard to find, being only 30" wide. This was a top of the line ladies trunk designed for the fashionable lady of the 1890's and comparable to a "Bride Trunk" model. A beautiful trunk with thick wood slats and ornate embossed metal covering and hardware. This trunk has the special features of high quality trunks including lots of ornate cast and stamped hardware, fancy embossed metal, strong lock with working key, and a lift out tray which has several covered compartments. This tray is a rare style which has the long ladies parasol compartment in the front and two taller covered bonnet compartments. All of the beautiful and colorful printed Victorian graphics inside the trunk are completely original! The bottom interior of the trunk was totally cleaned out and refinished. The exterior of the trunk was carefully cleaned and all the metal was primed and repainted to the original colors. The embossed metal is a polished bronze color, which matches the original color found on parts of the trunk. The trunk was hand finished with a high quality finish which will protect it for many years to come. The bottom of the trunk is in excellent clean original condition, with the four metal rollers. A great collector's and decorator's item that will certainly be a conversation piece. It's very strong and well made, great for storing many treasures! Original style stitched leather handles have been installed. No hardware has been changed or replaced on this trunk! These trunks are rare in such excellent and complete condition. Please see the details in the pictures and email if you have any questions about any of my trunks.

I have spent many years doing research on trunk history, hardware, and patents so that you can get the correct historical information about the trunks I restore. I have copies of several rare antique trunk catalogs available on the Research page. This is the first trunk of it's type that I have ever had to sell, because I don't buy the more common embossed metal trunks.
