T121 - Small 1800's Round Top Trunk - SOLD 05/2020

Size: 17" wide, 12" tall, 13" deep.

A small rounded top trunk which has been refinished and relined. The trunk was made during the 1850's to 1860's based on the style and lock and was originally covered with leather which was too deteriorated to preserve. The inner label is from Noah Howe of Providence, Rhode Island, and has "Harness, Trunk, & Valise Maker, 137 South Main Street, Providence, R.I. Harnesses and Trunks Repaired at short notice." Most trunks of the early to mid-1800's were made by harness makers, prior to the formation of larger trunk factories. The trunk has a rounded top, two metal bands, and small brass tacks, as well as a working lock and key. The leather side handles have been replaced. The interior was cleaned and relined with fabric and the old label preserved and replaced. The trunk has an iron and brass hasp style lock which works with a barrel key. This small trunk was probably used for travel by stagecoach, wagon, or horseback.

Price: $195 plus $35 shipping in the United States, by FedEx Ground. Thanks for visiting This Old Trunk.
