T118 - 1850's Document Box, Brass Tacks, Key! - SOLD 03/2024

$199.00

Size: 13" wide, 6" tall, 8" deep.

An excellent example of the beautiful document boxes (sometimes called bank boxes back in that time) made during the early to mid 1800's. This one is in excellent original and complete condition! Covered in brown russet leather, with lots of handmade brass tacks, a brass top handle, and printed paper lining. The maker is E.A.G. Roulstone of Boston, and the label has "Manufacturer of Military and Fire Caps, Equipments, Trunks, Valises, Bags, &c., No. 7 Tremont St. Boston" with a great drawing showing many of these items including an early Jenny Lind style trunk. The iron and brass lock is complete with the working key and is marked "Patent" on the brass key hole cover. It has the original uniquely shaped key. The box is very strong, made of thick wood, covered with the leather, tin, and brass tacks. There is one ink stain on the interior bottom paper. Great for holding jewelry, cards, cd's, tapes, etc; or just to display with your collection! A real collectible item with a great original look and very hard to find in such nice condition.

Price: $199 plus $22 shipping within the continental U.S. only. Please email for shipping rate to other countries. Thanks for visiting This Old Trunk.
