T101 - Rare Mini Jenny Lind Leather Trunk

Size: 10" from edge to edge, not counting the handles x 7" tall x 7"

A very rare and fabulous miniature Jenny Lind toy / sample / doll trunk of the 1850's to 60's. These are extremely hard to find with the tooled black leather and so complete! This one has the original ooled leather covering, four metal bands with brass buttons and a brass lock. The lock keyhole cover is also present but there is no key. The leather handles have been replaced as they would have been. There are small brass hinges in good condition. The interior has been cleaned and relined with fabric, including the original wood tray and the drop down compartment in the lid. (See detailed pictures). There is an old small print of a child with an early American flag. This style was made during the mid 1850's to 1860's. Perfect for display with your fashion dolls or miniature trunk collection, as a special jewelry box, or as a great conversation display piece! A true piece of American history related to the Civil War and Swedish singer Jenny Lind who toured the US from 1850 to 1852 with P.T. Barnum. These special little trunks were quite well made and used by children and ladies, but were not something everyone could afford. The trunk is all made of wood and the bottom is in solid condition. The overall condition is great and the trunk displays very well. This beauty has been in a private collection for several years and now it can be yours.
