T115 - Flat Top Wood Trunk, Tray & Key - SOLD 12/2016

$475.00

Size: 30" wide, 22" tall, 19" deep.

A beautiful flat top wooden trunk in excellent refinished condition with all the original hardware and a lift out inner tray! This style trunk was made from the 1890's to early 1900's by American trunk companies. The lock was made by Eagle Lock Company and has the original working key. A great size trunk which is flat on top and could make an interesting coffee or side table. It's made from thick solid pine with beautiful wood grain, and thick hardwood elm slats on all sides of the trunk. (Elm and Ash were used for most trunk slats and can resemble oak. This information comes from several historical sources including trunk catalogs and forestry department records.) The two front latches are also in good working condition. The side handles have been replaced with thick harness leather handles and the original fancy holders. The wood was carefully sanded very smooth and hand finished with satin tung oil varnish, a professional grade finish which is waterproof and very smooth (not oily). The trunk is heavy for it's size, very well made and strong, with heavy iron and steel slat braces and corner clamps. The interior of the trunk was carefully cleaned out and refinished as well since the wood is so beautiful. The inside lid has a replica Victorian lithograph print of a colorful bird and ornate trim pieces (see detailed pictures). The trunk bottom was also cleaned, repainted and refinished and has the original metal rollers which work. The inner tray is made of solid pine (no plywood) which is finished to match the trunk. There is one thin crack in the wood in the top, which has been completely filled and finished, so it's barely visible. This trunk is a good height for a side or coffee table, for use at the foot of the bed, and is great for storage of your treasures. Shipping is by FedEx Ground or by personal delivery to some areas. All trunks are kept in a smoke and pet free environment. All of the work on my trunks is done completely by me only, using high quality materials, and with no sandblasting which harms the wood. Please email if you have any questions or want more pictures. 40 years experience in trunk restoration! Trunks make wonderful gifts for any occasion.

Price: $475 plus $65 shipping by FedEx in the U.S. Pickup in east central Indiana, or personal delivery to some areas is also possible
