T106 - Small Jenny Lind Stagecoach Trunk - SOLD 03/2018

Size: 22" Wide, 13" Tall, 13" front to back.

A small sized Jenny Lind or Stagecoach trunk of the 1860's to early 1870's. This smaller size is very hard to find, only 22" wide! It has the unique keyhole Jenny Lind shape. This one has the original largest size high top brass buttons with four metal bands and the original brass plate (no key). The wood was carefully cleaned and finished with a fine wood preservative finish. The leather handles have been replaced and the holders are replacements. The interior of the trunk was cleaned out and relined with small print paper. There is a replica label in the lid from Kellogg & Clark of Boston that made these type trunks. A true piece of American history related to the Swedish singer Jenny Lind. These were made following her extremely popular U.S. tour in 1850 to 1852. Many items were named after her in the following years and she remained very popular until her death,. This beautiful small trunk is well made and strong. The trunk is made of thick pine and the bottom is in excellent condition too. For many years I have specialized in the early American made trunks including the famous Jenny Lind style which originated in the United States. Great for storing your small treasures and they make wonderful gifts too!
