T128 - Rare Lithographed Doll Trunk

Size: 16" wide, 9" tall, 9" deep.

It is quite rare to find early doll trunks with the color lithographed metal, especially in good condition. This flat top doll trunk in very good refurbished condition and you can see it has a very unusual multicolored fleur-de-lis style pattern on the embossed metal covering. The metal has a raised pattern pressed into it as well as the colored pattern. I have never seen one with this pattern before in over 40 years of collecting. This is from the early 1900's and is made of wood with the metal covering, wood slats, and brass plated metal trim. The metals' finish has a few age spots and blemishes but is in great condition overall. The wood slats have been cleaned and finished with clear varnish to bring out the color. There are some nice stamped metal rosettes on the wood slats.. The leather handles have been replaced in the original style. The original lock is there but the top latch piece is missing, so it doesn't lock. The interior has been carefully cleaned and the hat compartment has been recovered with fabric and an old die-cut lithograph. The lid still has the old Victorian lithographed print of a girl waving to a boat. The original lift out tray and trunk interior has the old paper lining. Great for display with your special dolls; to hold jewelry, cd's, tapes, etc.; or just display with your collection! A real collectible doll trunk with a nice original look.
