T116 - Antique Canvas Covered Doll Trunk

Size: 16" wide, 9 1/4" tall, 9" deep.

An unusual flat top doll trunk in excellent refurbished condition. This is from the early 1900's and is made of wood with the original heavy canvas covering, wood slats, and brass plated metal trim. The dark green canvas is all original with no holes or tears. The wood slats have been cleaned and finished with clear varnish to bring out the color. There are some nice stamped metal rosettes on the wood slats. It's a very sturdy trunk and heavy for it's size. The leather handles and metal holders are originals also. The metal trim is brass plated which is not often found and shows expected age wear. The original lock is complete and will latch to keep it closed, but there is no key. (I may still be able to find one if you need one.) The interior has been cleaned out and relined with fabric showing scenes of children playing, which are similar to the old Victorian lithographed print in the lid. This has a nice all wood lift out tray. Great for display with your special dolls; to hold jewelry, cd's, tapes, etc.; or just display with your collection! A real collectible doll trunk with a nice original look.
