T100 - Rare Excelsior Oak Slat Trunk

Beautiful Rare Antique Oak Slat Barrel Top Trunk with the key and inner tray!
Size: 33” wide x 20.5” front to back x 27” tall.

Excellent professionally restored condition! These are often called "Excelsior" trunks because that is what the original inventor called them back in 1868. This one was made around 1895 but in the original style with wide hardwood slats! Made to be extra strong and beautiful enough to use in the home. A copy of the original 1868 patent document will also be provided.

All original hardware and lock with a key, bottom rollers, latches, etc.! The color of the hardware has not been changed from the original! Thick and strong leather handles have been added like the originals.

The lift out wooden tray is reproduced and is very useful in a large trunk such as this. The interior has been relined with high quality new fabric. See the detailed pictures.

Well over 100 years old, with hardwood oak and elm slats. A barrel top trunk with a beautiful finish! It has just a few dings, scratches, and dents as would be expected for a trunk used for many years! All the wood slats are original and are refinished! Very rare and hard to find especially in such nice condition. Original heavy duty cast iron bottom rollers. The metal bottom is also very clean and repainted.

A trunk of this type recently sold for $2295 plus shipping on another private website.
