L120 - Antique Tinned Eagle Trunk Lock & Key

$66.00

A beautiful antique trunk lock in very good unused condition (new old stock)! The top hasp, faceplate, and key escutcheon are tinned iron and steel with brass rivets. The tin coating is still quite good, but with a little age wear and rubbing. Many trunk parts and locks from the late 1800's were tinned to give them a silver look. You rarely find the tin coating in good condition on the locks. The back lock mechanism is steel. The original unique key works perfectly. The base measures about 4" wide by 3 1/16" tall and the top latch is 3" tall by 2 5/8" wide. The lock is marked with "Eagle Lock Co. Terryville Conn. U.S.A." and the key is also marked with the Eagle name. This lock requires a cutout in the trunk about 2" high by 1 3/4" wide. A great lock for many types of antique trunks of the 1870's through the early 1900's. Would also look wonderful on an antique-style chest or other boxes needing a nice lock. Very hard to find and only one available!
