L111 - Star Trunk Lock Key

An authentic antique Star Lock Works steel trunk key in excellent used condition. These were not marked with the name but had the star cutout design. They are very hard to find and I finally found a few extras I can sell. These Star keys were made in two sizes and this is for the smaller size key. (The larger size is listed at item L110). These fit in the keyhole slots of the Star locks patented in 1869 and 1877. The small size Star lock keyhole slots are 3/8" to 7/16" tall (slot size only). The key is a little under 3/8" wide at the small end and 1 5/8" long (just under 1 3/4"). Measure carefully before ordering a key.

Many of the keyhole pieces are marked with the patent dates and Star name but some are not. See the pictures for details of design and condition, and also a picture of both large and small Star keys together, as well as a picture of the lock keyhole slot. This key will work nearly all the Star locks of this style and size as long as the keyhole slot is not frozen up. The round keyhole slot piece must turn around freely but the slot must be straight up and down for the key to go in. You turn the key left to lock and right to unlock.

Very hard to find and 3 available at the time of this listing. This is for 1 (ONE) key only, keys sold separately. The Star locks were used by many American trunk makers from 1869 to the early 1900's. Star Lock Works was in Philadelphia, PA.
