L103 - Antique Yale & Towne Trunk Lock

An antique Y&T trunk lock with one original barrel key. The lock is in good used working condition and it has the steel spring on the back which pushes the top hasp piece out when it's unlocked. It is marked on the top hasp piece "Yale & Towne Mfg Co. New Britain Conn USA" and has their clover logo. (Most trunk companies did not make any of their own hardware or locks). This measures a total of 4 3/4" tall at the center and 4" wide when locked, measured edge to edge. This is a surface style lock and does not require a hole in the trunk. Made of heavy stamped steel with brass rivets. This was originally brass plated and it has a worn aged finish now. It can easily be painted but some prefer the aged worn look. A very popular style lock and used by many trunk makers on all types of trunks from the 1890's to 1930's. The lock works well. One picture shows it locked and one shows it unlocked.
