L103 - Antique Star Trunk Lock & Key - SOLD 09/2020

A small antique trunk lock made by Star Lock Works of Philadelphia from 1877 to the 1890's and used by many American trunk makers. The lock is unmarked but has the original flat Star key. The bottom lock plate measures 2 7/8" wide and 2" tall. The top latch piece is 3" long by 1 3/8" wide at the top (The nail holes are 1" apart on the top). A style used on small and medium American trunks from 1877 to the early 1900's. The lock works well with the original Star flat steel key. The lock appears to be unused and has the original black finish with just a little wear. It has brass rivets and a round brass key escutcheon. Very hard to find complete with a key. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 1 1/4" by 1 1/2" tall. Easily put on with trunk nails or rivets.

Note: You won't see many items marked "Sold" on my pages because I quickly replace them with more antique trunk hardware items. Check back often for updates.
