L114 - Antique Trunk Lock & Key

An antique trunk lock marked with patent dates from 1867, 1869, and 1879 (see pictures). A type used by many American trunk makers. The bottom lock plate measures 3 5/8" wide and 3" tall. The top latch piece is 3 1/4" high by 2 3/4" at the widest point. It's a style used on medium and large size American trunks from the 1870's through the early 1900's. The lock works well with the old flat steel key (not the original key but it works). The lock has a brushed steel finish and can easily be painted if desired. This lock was originally tinned so it had a silver look when new. It has brass rivets and a fancy key escutcheon. Very hard to find complete with a key. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 1 3/4" by 2" tall. Easily put on with trunk nails or rivets.

Note: You won't see many items marked "Sold" on my pages because I quickly replace them with more antique trunk hardware items. Check back often for updates.
