L103 - Antique Trunk Hasp Lock

A rectangular trunk lock, unmarked, in great working condition! The bottom lock plate measures 3 1/2" wide and 2 5/8" tall. The top latch piece is 3 1/8" long by 1 1/2" wide at the top. It's a style used on many American trunks from 1869 through the early 1900's. The top of the hasp piece is marked "Pat. Nov. 30, 69" so it was patented in 1869. The lock appears to be old unused stock, in excellent condition with black paint. The brass keyhole escutcheon and cover piece is intact and works fine. These were used by many trunk makers in the U.S.. The lock works very well with the brass barrel type key, which may not be original. Very hard to find, especially in this condition. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/2 high". Easily put on with trunk nails, rivets, or split rivets.
