L110 - Early Trunk Lock, Hasp & Key

A nice trunk lock from the 1840's to 1860's in great condition! I rarely have this early style lock for sale with the complete brass key escutcheon and keyhole cover. The keyhole cover is marked "Terry & Co" with an eagle and key emblem, which was the predecessor of the Eagle Lock Company of Terryville, CT. The bottom lock plate measures 3" wide and 2 3/8" tall. The top latch piece is 3" long by 7/8" wide. It's a style used on small American trunks such as Jenny Lind and stagecoach trunks of the mid-1800's. They were used by many trunk makers primarily in New England. The lock works very well with the original uniquely shaped barrel key. It has most of the original black finish. Very hard to find in complete condition. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 1 1/2" wide by 1 1/2". Easily put on with trunk nails, rivets, or split rivets.
