L102 - Goldsmith Trunk Lock & Key

An antique brass plated steel trunk lock, marked "L. Goldsmith & Son Newark N.J." and "Neverbreak Trunks" with one original key! The lock and key are marked with the matching key code. A standard size trunk lock that measures 6" tall and 2 1/4" wide at the base, and the top receiver piece is 3 3/4" wide and 2 1/2" high. (a total of 6 1/2" high when locked together) This is the same size as Eagle, Corbin, or Yale locks of this style. The lock is in very good used condition with an aged brass finish, perfect for antique trunks! There are only small dings and scratches to the surface. This is well made with brass rivets and brass locking mechanism and is much heavier weight than the new reproduction locks. This style lock was used on many trunks of the 1890's to early 1900's. This lock requires a hole in the trunk lid about 1 5/8" diameter. Levi Goldsmith & Son was a large trunk manufacturer in Newark, NJ from the late 1870's to the early 1900's and Neverbreak Trunks was their trademark for high quality trunks. (A complete copy of a 1900 Goldsmith trunk catalog is available and described on the Research page) Old authentic American made locks look much better on antique trunks than those foreign made reproduction locks, plus they will increase the value of your trunk.
