L102 - Brass Star Trunk Lock - SOLD 11/2017

A brass rectangular trunk lock with a brass hasp and steel flat key. The bottom lock plate measures 3 7/8" wide and 3" tall. The top latch piece is 3" high by 2 3/4" wide at the widest point. It's a style used on better quality American trunks from the late 1870's through the early 1900's. The lock works very well. It is well made with copper rivets and heavy brass. Most trunk companies had a few models with this type lock. The lock keyhole piece is marked "Pat'd Mar. 69 & Apr. 77", and with a Star symbol. A rectangular cutout about 1 1/2" by 2" high is required in the body of the trunk for this type lock, see pictures for details. Only 1 available and the brass locks are harder to find.

Price: $66 includes postage in the U.S. Additional postage applies for shipping to other countries. Thanks for visiting This Old Trunk.
