L107 - Iron & Brass Trunk Lock, Key

An early style trunk lock made of iron, steel, and with an ornate brass key escutcheon! The bottom lock plate measures 3 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" tall. The top hasp piece is 3 1/4" high by about 1" wide. A style used on early American trunks from the mid 1800's to about 1875. The lock works very well and has the original unique barrel key shaped like the key opening in the lock. It has some of the original black finish and could easily be repainted if desired. Very hard to find. A rectangular cutout is required in the trunk for this type lock, about 1 1/2" by 1 3/4" high".
