L105 - Ornate Lion Head Trunk Lock - SOLD 01/2017

This is a rare and early style solid brass trunk lock plate and the iron locking mechanism, from the 1860's. The cast brass ornamentation on the lock plate has a lion face and also a snake and bird heads. Lots of great details! The keyhole piece has a built in spring and it pushes down to flip to the right to reveal the key hole. The lock plate measures 3 1/2" wide and 3 1/2" tall. It's in nice original condition but can be polished to a bright finish if desired. The iron lock is the style used on many Jenny Lind trunks of the 1850's to 1860's and appears to be complete with the inner spring and moving latch piece. No key is available but a large barrel key would work this style lock. The lock comes with the four large brass head nails which could still be used with some epoxy and the lock plate. See pictures for details of the lock and what is included. Thanks for visiting ThisOldTrunk.com
