L100 - Antique Brass Walsh Trunk Lock 1870
$69.95
A high-quality brass antique trunk lock in good used condition! The top hasp, faceplate, key escutcheon, and rivets are made of heavyweight solid brass. The back lock mechanism is steel. The original uniquely shaped key works perfectly. The lock hasp is marked "Walsh & Son Patented Jan'y 1870".
The base measures 3 7/8" wide by 3" tall and the top latch/hasp is 3 3/8" tall by 3 1/4" wide to the edges.
Walsh was one of the earliest American a trunk lock makers. Conrad Liebrich, Star Lock Works, and Eagle Lock also made similar locks. This lock requires a cutout in the trunk bottom about 2 1/4" high by 2" wide. The lock has a few small dings and scratches, but no corrosion. The top hasp is spring loaded to push out when unlocked. It has been bent a little over the years and has a small crack on one side, but still works fine. A great looking lock for many types of antique trunks of the 1870's through the early 1900's. Would also look wonderful on an antique style chest or other boxes needing a nice lock. Very hard to find especially with the original key!
