L120 - French Style Antique Trunk Lock & Key - SOLD 06/2022

A rare antique trunk lock in excellent condition with one original key! This is a style used from the 1880's to the early 1900's on high quality trunks. Made of heavy brass with natural age patina and a steel back. It could be polished if desired. Beautiful ornate shaped design. This is a French style lock but some American trunks also had this style lock. Based on the clover cutout in the key, this was most likely made by the Yale & Towne Lock Company in the U.S..

The lock base is 3 7/8" wide and 3 5/8" high. The top latch piece is also brass and measures 2 3/4" wide at the top and 4 1/8" high. It has a built in spring so it will flip up when unlocked. This lock will require a shallow cutout in the trunk about 2 3/4" wide for the base. No corrosion or damage. A great lock for many types of antique trunks. Would also look great on an antique style chest or other boxes needing a nice lock.

Authentic antique locks look much better on antique trunks than the new lightweight reproduction locks, plus they will increase the value of your antique trunk.
