Early 19c Camphor and Brass Chinese Trunk

This is a well made Chinese Camphor wood trunk with solid brass handles and trim. Camphor wood is a hard wood which is known for it's wonderfully aromatic qualities. It has a very pleasant scent and is also resistant to insects and moths. The trunk measures 27" wide by 13" tall and 13 1/2" deep. This has special hidden dovetailed construction which is only visible from the inside. The bottom and lid have extra wood bracing for strength. The inner edge of the trunk has a raised "lip" for better sealing when closed. The solid brass handles are handmade and beautifully designed. There is also a brass lifting ring and lock plate. The lock is not in working order. The wood has a water resistant satin patina finish. There is a small dark stain spot on top which may have been an ink stain but it is not too obvious. This would be perfect for storing your special possesions, collectibles, or linens. A similar camphor wood trunk on another antiques website is priced at $925.
