Restored Doll Trunk, Circa 1900

Size: 14" wide, 9" tall, 8 1/2" deep.

This little doll trunk is paper covered with a pattern that was made to look like the larger leather covered trunks. It has a slightly rounded top and the complete original lock (no key). It has leather handles which were replaced patterned after the originals. The paper covering is mostly complete with a few worn spots and some darkening due to age. The paper design also includes fake metal strips and tacks, like on the large trunks. There are two wooden strips (or slats) on the bottom. The interior has a wooden lift out tray, and it has all been relined with nice antique rose colored fabric with pictures of children in various scenes. I guess you could call it a miniature Victorian toile pattern. The pattern coordinates well with the original picture in the lid showing a girl and boy playing. It is really quite adorable and in very good condition for it's age. A great collectible display piece!
