Unusual mid-19th Century Doll Trunk
A very unusual and therefore rare style of a doll trunk, ca.
1860 - 1880. What is especially unusual about this beautiful little trunk is
the decorative trim including brass covered slat ends, brass tacks, and
white porcelain "buttons". I have only had a couple trunks with these
porcelain buttons in over 40 years. All of the trim and hardware are
original to this doll trunk, plus it has the original inner wood tray and
pictures. It is an adorable doll trunk in great condition. The leather
handles have been replaced and the trunk has been cleaned and a satin
hand-rubbed finish applied. It is made of dark pine with oak slats. The
interior has been fabric lined and the tray is natural wood. The two small
pictures are original and one shows children playing and the other looks
like a greyhound holding a ribbon in it's mouth. This is 12" wide by 9" tall
by about 8" deep. Great for display or use with your doll collection. A
one-of-a-kind type doll trunk! |
