This is an unusual and cute little doll trunk from the early 1900's with a nice checkerboard type pattern. It measures 10" wide, 3 3/4" tall and 6" deep. It is metal with brass plated hardware, and the lock is marked Eagle Lock Co., Terryville, CT, with the original key! The pattern is black and opalescent and it sparkles in the light with multiple colors, just like an opal. Even the metal around the edges is a tiny checked pattern. The leather handles are replaced just like the originals. The interior is relined with a small rose pattern fabric and it has a tiny reproduction Victorian fashion print in the lid. Everything is in very good condition, but it does have some wear to the exterior finish with a few scuff marks, dings, and small dents. The brass plating is worn some but has a nice antique look. This style doll trunk is rather difficult to find. Nice display piece.
